Steel Price in Pakistan 12th August 2026

adminadmin—August 12, 20260

Steel Price in Pakistan 12th August 2026

Steel is one of the most important construction materials used in Pakistan. It is mainly required for foundations, columns, beams, slabs, lintels, staircases and other reinforced-concrete structures. Because steel represents a significant portion of the grey-structure cost, keeping track of the latest steel price in Pakistan is important for homeowners, builders, contractors and developers.

As of 12th August 2026, the latest available market updates indicate that steel (saria) prices are generally ranging between Rs. 258 and Rs. 265 per kg, depending on the grade, manufacturer, location and quantity purchased. Grade 40 is around Rs. 260 per kg, while Grade 60 is around Rs. 265 per kg.

Steel Price in Pakistan Today – 12th August 2026

Steel TypeApprox. Price per KGApprox. Price per Ton
Grade 40 SteelRs. 258–262Rs. 258,000–262,000
Grade 60 SteelRs. 262–265Rs. 262,000–265,000
Branded SteelRs. 260–265Rs. 260,000–265,000
Local SteelRs. 258–262Rs. 258,000–262,000

These are indicative market rates and may change according to brand, grade, city, dealer margin, quantity and transportation costs. The latest August 12 market update places the overall range at approximately Rs. 258–265 per kg.

Grade 40 Steel Price in Pakistan

Grade 40 steel is commonly used in residential and general construction where the structural design specifies this grade. On 12th August 2026, Grade 40 steel is selling at approximately Rs. 260 per kg, although the exact price can differ from one supplier to another.

For a metric ton of Grade 40 steel, the indicative cost is therefore around Rs. 260,000 per ton.

Grade 60 Steel Price in Pakistan

Grade 60 steel provides higher strength and is widely specified for reinforced-concrete construction. The current market rate for Grade 60 steel is approximately Rs. 265 per kg.

At this rate:

1 Ton = 1,000 kg × Rs. 265 = Rs. 265,000

Therefore, buyers should expect to pay approximately Rs. 262,000–265,000 per ton, depending on brand and market conditions.

Branded Steel Price in Pakistan

Branded steel generally costs more than ordinary local steel because manufacturers provide better consistency, quality control and traceability. The price also depends on the manufacturer, grade and dealer.

For August 2026, branded reinforcement steel is generally being quoted around Rs. 260–265 per kg in the current market.

When purchasing steel for structural work, it is better to compare the quality and certified grade rather than selecting a product solely because it has the lowest price.

Steel Price in Major Cities of Pakistan

Steel prices can differ slightly between cities because of transportation costs, dealer margins and local supply.

CityEstimated Steel Rate per KG
LahoreRs. 258–265
IslamabadRs. 260–265
RawalpindiRs. 260–265
KarachiRs. 258–265
PeshawarRs. 260–265
FaisalabadRs. 258–264
MultanRs. 258–264
GujranwalaRs. 258–264

These city-wise figures should be treated as indicative ranges, not fixed official rates. Your supplier’s quotation may be different because of brand, quantity, transportation and delivery arrangements.

How Much Steel Is Required for House Construction?

The exact quantity depends on the architectural design, structural design, soil conditions, number of floors and structural system.

For a typical reinforced-concrete house, steel is used in:

  • Foundations
  • Columns
  • Beams
  • Roof slabs
  • Staircases
  • Lintels
  • Boundary walls
  • Other reinforced-concrete elements

A structural engineer should prepare the Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) before purchasing large quantities. This helps reduce material wastage and ensures that the correct diameter and grade are supplied.

Tips for Buying Steel in Pakistan

Before purchasing steel, homeowners and contractors should check the following:

  1. Confirm the steel grade.
  2. Verify the manufacturer and brand.
  3. Check the diameter of reinforcement bars.
  4. Compare the price per kilogram rather than only the price per bundle.
  5. Ask whether transportation and unloading are included.
  6. Check the actual weight of the supplied steel.
  7. Request a test certificate where required.
  8. Follow the structural engineer’s specifications.
  9. Avoid buying structural steel solely on the basis of the lowest quotation.

The Competition Commission of Pakistan has also highlighted quality concerns surrounding undocumented and ungraded steel, noting that lower-priced ungraded material can lack proper quality assurance and grade specifications.

Steel Price Trend in Pakistan – August 2026

The recent market appears relatively stable. A market update published on August 8 reported steel prices in the Rs. 258–265 per kg range, while the August 12 update gives the same broad range. This suggests that the market has remained comparatively steady during this period.

However, steel prices can change quickly because of raw-material costs, transportation, currency movements, supply and demand.

Final Words

The Steel Price in Pakistan on 12th August 2026 is currently around Rs. 258–265 per kg, with Grade 40 at approximately Rs. 260 per kg and Grade 60 near Rs. 265 per kg.

For construction projects, it is recommended to obtain a fresh quotation from at least two or three reputable dealers before purchasing. Also, compare the delivered site price, because transportation, loading and unloading can affect the final cost.

For an accurate house-construction budget, steel should be calculated according to the structural drawings and Bar Bending Schedule rather than using a general percentage or estimate.
